    • WorkerSMEs (involved in metal finishing operations) who benefit from improved production processes due to reduced resource consumption and pollution and also have better prospects in terms of exports thus becoming internationally competitive

    • Auto manufacturers / fabricators (working with SMEs for the metal finishing of auto parts) who receive a greener supply chain, leading to improved export potential

    • Technology suppliers who receive access to a largely untapped market that has not been explored so far

    • Financial institutions (mostly providers of SME financial products and services targeting energy and resource efficiency) who also receive access to a new customer base

    • Workers and local population who benefit from improved working conditions and improved water resources in terms of decreasing ground water exploitation and reduced contamination of water resources by heavy metals and salts generated by these industries



ACIDLOOP is a 4-year project (2012-2016) supported by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH Asia Programme. This programme emphasizes sustainable consumption and production in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ACIDLOOP is targeted specifically at the Indian metal finishing industry.  It aims to introduce technology innovation for acid recovery as well as resource efficiency that would lead to improved environmental quality and combat pollution.  The activities is taking place in various locations in northern, western and southern India.
