A Customer Roundtable was held on 25 September, 2014 at Hometel Hotel, Chandigarh. The roundtable comprised representatives from relevant government institutions, scientific research institutions, metal finishing company members from Mohali Industries Association as well as their customers. It was the objective of the roundtable to bring together experts from the various sectors to discuss how they can contribute to the ACIDLOOP mission of Resource Efficiency (RE) in the metal finishing sector. Policymakers were given an opportunity to hear the consensus statements from Metal Finishing Industries especially from the bathroom fittings sector. The discussion with customers, company owners, research institutions, and stakeholders, such as SPCBs held during the roundtable covered RE best practices in MSMEs in metal finishing sector and relevant government policies available as well as the potential for research on easy to implement resource efficiency technologies.

ACIDLOOP is a 4-year project (2012-2016) supported by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH Asia Programme. This programme emphasizes sustainable consumption and production in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ACIDLOOP is targeted specifically at the Indian metal finishing industry.  It aims to introduce technology innovation for acid recovery as well as resource efficiency that would lead to improved environmental quality and combat pollution.  The activities is taking place in various locations in northern, western and southern India.
