A demonstration system for acid recovery through retardation technology was successfully installed and commissioned at Monika Udyog, GIDC Vatva, Ahmedabad on 12th September 2014. This demonstration system provides state-of-art technology for recovery of process quality acid from spent pickling acid.

The demonstration event was attended by 45 company representatives from the SSRA (Stainless Steel Rerollers Association), one company representative from Baroda, and two officials from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). The details of the technology and the benefits were explained to the companies by the TERI team and the representative of the technology provider (Scanacon).

The system is being used to treat mixed acids consisting of sulphuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid.















ACIDLOOP is a 4-year project (2012-2016) supported by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH Asia Programme. This programme emphasizes sustainable consumption and production in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ACIDLOOP is targeted specifically at the Indian metal finishing industry.  It aims to introduce technology innovation for acid recovery as well as resource efficiency that would lead to improved environmental quality and combat pollution.  The activities is taking place in various locations in northern, western and southern India.
